We, Glen and Jen Mossop, offer you a very warm welcome to our home. Having made the bold decision to leave excellent careers as a Retail Manager and a Teacher of English respectively, we moved to this area of outstanding natural beauty with our two horses and our dog from Lancashire in July 2007.
Since purchasing the business, major improvements have been made throughout the building both inside and outside to make your stay here more relaxing and enjoyable. The guest house and pub are popular with a whole range of people, for example: walkers, cyclists, tourists, motorcyclists, fishermen, tradesmen and wedding party guests! Whatever the reason for your visit, we endeavour to make your break as enjoyable and stress free as possible. We have been lucky enough to receive some lovely comments and many of our guests have already returned to visit us again.
The Fetherston Arms is set in the heart of rural Kirkoswald, 9 miles from Penrith in the Eden Valley. The pub was formerly a bakers shop and fishing hotel and has been a friendly village pub and bed and breakfast for the last 30 years.
The Fetherston Arms is a traditional local’s pub hosting many of the local pub teams and is a central part of the close-knit community. There is a separate snug area with an open log fire to relax by after a hard days walk and the recently refurbished bar is a focal point serving several real ales. These include Theakston’s Best Bitter, Jenning’s Cumberland ale and a weekly guest ale from both local micro-breweries and the more recognised national brewers. Black Sheep Ale, Hobgoblin and Spitfire are just a very small selection of the ales which have been ‘on’ at The Fetherston Arms. We work closely with CAMRA, are currently seeking, and hope to have full Cask Marques accreditation by the end of 2008. For the more competitive, there is a pool table and two darts boards along with a separate dining area to sample the home cooked food from our traditional menu.
